On the second day of the 2021 Cape Town Wildfires I went up towards Vredehoek and made images in the area around the quarry. Heading back to the car I noticed this scene and struggled against the gale force winds to make an image. I was very happy when I got the negatives back and saw that a composition like this had been captured.
15% of all profits from sales of images of the fire go towards charities working to rebuild what was lost. For this image, that charity is the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, to help animals impacted by the massive loss of habitat.
